Winner – Kingsgate Native . . .
We were absolutely thrilled to witness KINGSGATE NATIVE win at Beverley yesterday afternoon in the 3.45pm , 5f Conditions Stakes . . . We had decided against running him a few days previously in the Group 3 at Newbury. The ground was soft and seeing as he is now nine-years-old there was a possibility this could be his last race. Along with his Owners, Cheveley Park Stud, we all decided it would be fantastic to see him get his head in front again. Not only for a confidence boaster but if it was to be his last ever career race it would be wonderful to bow out on a victory . . . He did us all proud, carrying the famous Red, White and Blue colours with Jim Crowley on board. The pace was quick on Good to Firm going which are conditions that suit him perfectly. He was just tucked in behind the leaders until he found a gap and pulled away in style. . .
He has had a wonderful racing career, breaking his maiden in the Group 1, Nunthorpe Stakes at York as a two-year-old. He then went on to win the Group 1, Golden Jubilee at Royal Ascot, the Group 3, King George at Glorious Goodwood and has won the Group 2, Temple Stakes twice at Haydock Park. He did have a brief spell at stud, but unfortunatley thing did not work out. He came back in to training with us and he has continued to race at the very highest level all his career. He seems to love the spring, in particularly running well, year on year in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket and the Temple Stakes at Haydock Park . . . He is a real stable favourite. He will now go back to the picturesque surroundings of Cheveley Park Stud for a well earned winters holiday in the paddocks before his owners decide if to race him as a ten-year-old! . . .
