Robert Cowell Racing News

Friday and Saturday

Friday: Gentleman’s day of the July festival today at Newmarket and we have just the one to report on, Dutch Uncle who’s off in the first race, the 7 furlong Silver Bunbury Cup at 1.50 pm.  He is dropped down considerably in trip and we are hoping this will be more to his liking, its a competitive field, if he gets a good break we are hopeful he keeps involved. Oisin Murphy rides in the claret silks of Qatar Racing Ltd.

Saturday:  Sees five runners head to tracks around the country.

Green Door makes his return to tracks after a years absence he travels to Ascot for the 2.10 pm Heritage Handicap over the minimum distance.  He is fit, ready and raring for action again.  It is a big field but we have no doubt he will put in the maximum effort.  Pat Dobbs rides for Mrs Fitri Hay.

Southern Belle heads to Chester for the 2.25 pm Fillies Handicap over 6 furlongs, she has had a consistent year and we are hopeful of a good performance from her.  Phil Makin rides for Mr Ahmed Jaber.

Lastly we have three runners lined up for action at York in the Listed City Walls Stakes 5 furlong race at 4.15 pm. Goldream who has enjoyed a couple of places so far this year which includes a second in the Temple Stakes at Haydock, he has not had a win for a bit and it would be lovely to see him back in the winners circle. Pat Cosgrave is on board for Mrs Morley and Mr Sargeant. Encor D’or who enjoyed victory at Chelmsford last month he seems to prefer the All Weather but it would be great if he could get his first victory on the grass.  Jack Garrity rides in the silks of Mr Glen Johnson for owning partnership which includes Mrs Morley and Newsells Park Stud.  Lastly Ornate who has not achieved much since a second place in the Abernant Stakes at Newmarket back in April. He is a lovely hard working chap and we would love to see him involved at the front of the action. Andrea Atzeni gets the ride for Cheveley Park Stud.
