Our weekend runners….
Friday 19th June
RAINBOW ORSE travels to the lovely July racecourse here in Newmarket for the The Triconnex Handicap Stakes at 9.10pm just before Kylie Minogue takes to the stage to entertain the crowds. He will not like the ground if it is to firm and he may not have a lot of maneuverability with his handicap mark but he is a fast horse and we are hopeful he will run well this evening.
DECISIVE is going a little further afield to Redcar. It took her three runs to obtain her handicap mark and we feel that the 5-6 furlong distance should suit her well. She will show further improvement now she is no longer in maiden company.
Saturday 20th June
IFFRANESIA is our only runner making the long journey up to Scotland. She makes a quick appearance in the EBF Land O’Burns Fillies Stakes at Ayr at 4.10pm since finishing 2nd in a listed race in Chantilly at the beginning of June. She is a tall rangy filly and has come on leaps and bounds since arriving with us rated 50 18 months ago. She will appreciate a bit of a cut in the grass.
JUST US TWO and USE YOUR FILBERT are both heading up the road. JUST US TWO runs in the 4.40pm 5 furlong Diamond Dash Handicap. We feel he is a very promising young horse with a great profile and an exciting future ahead of him. He won well on his seasonal debut at Windsor and will enjoy the fast ground Newmarket has to offer. USE YOUR FILBERT runs next over the longer distance of 7 furlongs in the franciswainjewellers.com handicap stakes at 5.55pm. He will not want the ground too firm but he is a horse with great potential and will be improving for this run out.
THE WISPE and SAMSAMSAM travel with DECISIVE today to Redcar. They will get a night in racecourse accommodation before their separate races on Saturday. THE WISPE is entered in the 3.50pm 5 furlong Tec4m Building the Future Handicap stakes. She will be held back and produced late this time out to save her getting into a speed dual to early on. We are hopeful she has a good place prospect. SAMSAMSAM races next at 5.45pm in the Ladies and Gents Evening Handicap Stakes. 5 furlongs is a perfect distance for him after finishing strongly a fortnight ago at Nottingham and we feel he should be able to win a race off his handicap mark.
Finally to Royal Ascot where INTRINSIC and Richard Hughes take on the Heritage Handicap Wokingham Stakes over 6 furlongs. He is lacking a run out this year but has had a racecourse gallop and has been working hard at home. He has tremendous talent and we are hopeful he will turn into a very useful sprinter. If he is found wanting after this race we will have the Stewards Cup at Goodwood as back up which he won last August.
