News from yesterday and Friday/Saturday runners…
All four of runners ran with credit yesterday at Nottingham. Our two fillies who made their debuts together put on fairly decent performances. CHANDRESH still looks a little green and EDITH WESTON has a lot more to learn but both will have gained a lot from the experience. Watch this space for future entries for the pair of them. WASLAWI has obviously improved significantly for his last run out as he came in a very respectable 2nd to a decent proposition from Marco Botti. He is a very exciting prospect for the future. THE WISPE ran a good honest race also finishing in 2nd place lets hope she can get her head in front next time out.
Friday….
Today we are headed for Glorious Goodwood where Cheveley Park Stud’s veteran KINGSGATE NATIVE and James Doyle run together in the Group 2 Qatar King George Stakes at 3.45 pm. At the ripe old age of 10 he is the oldest contender in the race. We know he will give a great effort but we feel the course may be a little too fast for him today. It still remains an exciting race and we are cannot wait to tune in to watch here in the office. GRAND BEAUTY is next up at Thirsk she runs with Jack Garrity on board for Mr Jaber Abdullah in the 4.05 pm Maiden Stakes. She made her debut for the yard at Beverley 3 weeks ago and seemed to have the race in the bag until the final 1/2 furlong where she seemed to be treading water having to settle for 3rd spot instead. Hopefully she will make amends today provided her temperament does not get the better of her. Our last out is QUITE SMART who is just popping up the road to Newmarket’s July course for the 5.20 pm Handicap Stakes. Dane O’Neil takes the ride for Mr Abdullah Al Mansoori. She became a little unsettled in the gate last time out at Chelmsford City although this was through no fault of her own. She will appreciate the return to turf and she should run a good solid race today.
Saturday….
Back to Goodwood where we will see SECRETINTHEPARK in the Stewards Sprint at 2 pm with Graham Lee taking the ride for Mia Racing. This 5 year old has been running good solid races this year but without winning, he reverts back to 6f today and if he handles the track will give another good account. SHES MY PRINCESS makes her career start at Lingfield Park on the turf at 7.30 pm in the Maiden Stakes with Jack Garrity on board for Mr Malih Al Basti. This is a incredibly speedy filly who has been working hard here at home. She has been given a good draw and hopefully she will make full use of that.
