Naivasha Wins & Breaks Her Maiden . . .

We were thrilled to see NAIVASHA crack her maiden at the third time of asking at Catterick Bridge on Saturday.  We suspected she would relish a bit of cut in the ground and when we heard of all the rain falling in the North we were delighted! . . . She had run a storming race at Southwell two weeks earlier, which was her seasonal début following a winter break living out in our paddocks on the stud with a group of companions.  She came back in to training bigger and stronger;  it had seemingly done her the world of good! . . . She travelled beautifully at Catterick, leading a smart pace from start to finish, carrying the White, with Red cap colours of Lady Lonsdale and Lowther Racing . . .

Up at Haydock Park, despite not bringing home a winning on Betfred day, we were thrilled with all the efforts of our team up there.  KINGSGATE NATIVE was defending his Temple Stakes title.  However despite the ground being Firm, Good to Firm in places a day or so before, the heavens opened just before racing and the ground went Soft!!  This was certainly less than ideal for a horse who loves the ground as quick as it would come.  He finished a very gallant third with Jim Crowley for Cheveley Park Stud and we could not have been more happy with his game, determination in unsatisfactory circumstances for him. . . We sadly had to make MARCH a non-runner in the Cecil Frail Stakes due to the going, however GRAPHIC GUEST took her chance, as he adores the softer conditions and she ran a cracking race.  She travelled wonderfully until asked by Jim Crowley a furlong out, however perhaps the 6f did just catch her out, tiring but finished well in forth . . .
