Moonspring Strikes In The Greys Race . . .

‘The Greys’ race at Newmarket each August is a really thrilling sight to see, as a large field of all grey horses sprint down the track at Newmarket’s July Course and it is a race if you can, you like to aim a horse for.   Not only is it very unique but it a lovely day out for the owners . . .

MOONSPRING was one horse that came to mind a month prior for the race on Saturday, being that she was grey and rated below 85!   Having been winning on the all-weather tracks with such determination and game, we felt it was a possible task for her.  However her first two starts back on turf did not see her quite in the same sort of light.  With half a mind on sending her back to where she seemed to love racing, on the ploy tracks, we tentatively made the entry in to the greys race.  As the ground seemed to come up just about right for her two days out, it was decided she would run, with plenty of all weather racing to come during the rest of the year . . . Liam Jones took the ride in the Black and Pink diamonds sleeves of Mr P Foster and Friends . . . She was drawn out wide from the stand side rail.  Liam bustled her along to the front from he moment the gates opened.  She travelled smoothly for him throughout, looking nothing but the winner.  She took the climb to the finish line all in her stride and stuck on with that same game attitude she has showed on all her all weather starts for us . . . We are just so thrilled for her owners, picking up a very nice £12,000 prize for first place . . . She has steadily improved since joining us in January off a mark of 60.  It is a relatively tough year for sprinters as three-year-olds and she looks like a filly going in the right direction with a willing attitude to racing . . .

Today we have two débutantes . . .

RAINBOW ORSE makes his first start at Kempton Park in the 3.00pm, 6f Maiden Stakes . . . He is a Doncaster breeze-up graduate by an inform Sire, Zebedee.   Adam Beschizza takes the ride today in the Blue Star colours of Mr Glen Johnson . . .

MOST TEMPTING then makes her career début at Wolverhampton in the 7.50pm, Fillies Maiden Auction Stakes, also over 6f . . . She is a homebred filly, by another Sire making an impact this season, Showcasing . . . She is a speedy chestnut filly who will no doubt learn a huge amount from today’s first experience of racing . . . Adam Beschizza also takes the ride in the White with Red & Blue Cross belts of Gay Leader’s Family . . .
