IFFRANESIA leaves us for pastures new….
We all said a very sad farewell this morning to 7 year old chestnut mare IFFRANESIA this morning as she makes her way to quarantine ahead of a long flight to Australia where she will join the prestigious Arrowfields Stud in the next stage of her remarkable career. This wonderfully successful horse joined us from France in September 2013 and pretty much started winning straight away with two on the bounce on the all weather tracks of Kempton Park and Wolverhampton, starting her career on a rather lowly rating of 53. Into 2014 she kept up her consistent performances with a total of 5 wins and a fair few places, the most prestigious of these was a win at the Royal Ascot meeting in the summer whilst slowly creeping up in grade. Onwards into 2015 she won on her first start out at Lingfield Park and from there in June we sent her back to France for the Listed Prix Hampton at Chantilly where she picked up her first bit of black type by finishing 2nd, from there she popped to Ireland to get a 2nd at Tipperary in the Listed Abergwaun stakes before her final run in October as she went back to Chantilly to claim the Listed De Bonneval stakes which provided her page with more precious black type. 2016 saw a slower year for her but we aimed her at as many stakes races as we could before the decision was made for her to be retired. Retiring on a super handicap rating of 103. She has been a fantastic horse to train and look after and we have no doubt she will go on to be a fantastic brood mare with fingers firmly crossed that she can produce some successful offspring.
