Robert Cowell Racing News

Haydock Park & Wolverhampton . . .

Today we have four runners.  One at Haydock Park and three at Wolverhampton this evening . . .

Jiroft has travelled over to Haydock Park this morning for the 3.30pm, Class 2, 5f Handicap.  He has Steve Drowne on board for Mr T W Morley and Speedlic Racing.  Having finished a very close second at Yarmouth last time out over the minimum trip, on Good to Soft ground, with impressive claimer, Robert Tart on board.  He does have course and distance experience, having ran in a Listed event at Haydock earlier in the season.  The ground is currently Good, Good to Firm in place there at the moment, which should suit him having won on a variety of ground conditions ranging from Soft to Good ground.  Fingers crossed, our Group 1 winning Jockey, Steve Drowne can get a good tune out of him this afternoon for all connected.

We then have three lining up throughout the evening card at Wolverhampton.  Diva Delight makes her racecourse debut in the 5.30pm, Median Auction Maiden Stakes over 6f.  She will have Shane Kelly on board for  the Quinn, Benham and Saunders partnership.  R Woody will then make his reappearance in the 6.00pm, 5f, Claiming Stakes with Martin Lane in the saddle.  R Woody will sport a pair of Eye Shields on this occasion, as the track is riding particularly deep at the moment and the kick back seems to be far more than normal at this track.  Finally, Nelina returns to Wolverhampton for Division one of the 56-70, 7f Handicap Stakes at 8.30pm.  Shane Kelly is riding for us in the Yellow and Black colours of Newsells Park Stud.

We hope to end the day with a winner or two – Fingers crossed . . .
