GOLDREAM wins his first Group 1 Race on opening day at Royal Ascot…

What an amazing opening day at Royal Ascot for us all here at the yard, all of the staff and owners of GOLDREAM who performed out of his skin yesterday in the King’s Stand Stakes.  We knew the course condition would be perfect for him as he is happiest on the faster ground.  He just got his head to the front in the nick of time to defeat Medicean Man in a nail biting photo finish.  The victory was his first in Group 1 company and it provides us with our second King’s Stand triumph after winning with PROHIBIT back in 2011.  We are extremely delighted for his dedicated owners, along with all the family and friends of Mr J Sargeant a very successful butcher from Downham Market and Mrs Morley whose son Tom Morley was also involved in the partnership of 2011 winner PROHIBIT.   It is wonderful to see smaller owners hitting the headlines and being rewarded for their loyalty to our sport.  It just goes to prove that Group 1 winners can be won by relatively inexpensive and older horses.

We are now eagerly looking onward’s to the weekend at Royal Ascot where INTRINSIC and SECRETINTHEPARK will go head to head in the Wokingham Stakes on Saturday.

We have two runners travelling just down the road for an evening at Chelmsford City.  FREE ZONE has been frustrating this year but we were slightly more encouraged by his last performance out at Epsom.  The surface is unknown and he is becoming dangerously well handicapped.  STUNNED is in super condition and was unlucky last time out having broken to slowly from the gate.  If he puts this right tonight he will be bang near the finish.
