GOLDREAM retires…

GOLDREAM is retired from racing:

Roberts’s thoughts:

GOLDREAM was a horse that Tom Morley and I had been keeping tabs on throughout 2012.

We were lucky enough to secure him at the end of the 2012 flat season.

The following year proved to be transitional as we learnt about him and he acclimatised to his new surroundings.

The groundwork started to pay off in 2014 when he was mightily consistent and won a valuable handicap at Newmarket and the Shergar Cup Dash at Ascot.

It was in the early months of the following year when I realised from his homework that GOLDREAM had clearly improved considerably over the winter but even on my most optimistic of days I would not have anticipated the stellar year that was to come. He won the Group 3, Palace House on his seasonal debut before going on to land a superb Group 1 double of the King’s Stand and the Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp. Quite simply, that year when he got his favoured fast ground he was a star.

After that it was only natural that he should try the Dubai Carnival but alas it did not seem to suit him, and thereafter despite glimpses of the old GOLDREAM, he could never recapture the high standard he had set.

This year whilst continuing to show plenty of sparkle at home it has become clear that at the racetrack he is no longer able to perform in the same way. Myself and the owners feel that this is the right time to draw stumps and give the horse his well-earned retirement from racing.

We are thrilled to confirm he will move to The British Racing School in Newmarket, where another of our stars, KINGSGATE NATIVE resides.  This opportunity will help to encourage and enthuse the next generation in to our wonderful industry, as well as giving GOLDREAM a role and keeping him active.

He is a horse that has given us some wonderful days racing at the top level and one we will always hold close to our hearts.

Quote from Mr Grant Harris – The British Racing School, Newmarket:

“We are absolutely thrilled to be welcoming GOLDREAM to the BRS. We count ourselves very lucky to have great supporters such Robert and his owners as they have already entrusted with us KINGSGATE NATIVE who has become an absolute favourite with our trainees. It is quite something for young people coming here to start their careers in racing being able to ride Group 1 winning horses.”
