Bank Holiday Monday . . .
We have two runners this Bank Holiday Monday . . . STORM OVER makes his 2017 seasonal debut up at Redcar in the 2.25pm for Mr Al Mansoori. He showed promise last year as a two-year-old. He does relish Softer conditions. The North East is due further rain throughout the day, which will be very welcome but whether enough arrives in time remains to be seen. However he is ready to run and this is a good starting point to his campaign this year. Joe Fanning gets the leg up . . . EVERGATE will be seen back in action, today at Windsor in the 3.30pm. He ran a super race at Chester last time out in a similar event. Of course, that is a very specialist track and he did well having been so inexperienced on a very sharp turning track like that. Windsor will be more his cup of tea today HOWEVER! rain is due throughout the day (typical for a Bank Holiday!!) and we do not have any Soft going form for him to go on so it will be a test for him and a learning curve for us. He is a horse we hold in high regard and one we hope puts up a good showing today . . .
Looking back at the weekend. We were fortunate to escape too much rain for GOLDREAM and ENCORE D’OR in the Temple Stakes at Haydock Park on Saturday . . . Both ran solid races, in particular GOLDREAM flashed home to finish second, having had an unusually tardy start by his standards. He is in great shape and provided the ground stays quick for him we can not wait for Day One of Royal Ascot which is his next target . . .
