Todays runners – including three to York for the Nunthorpe Stakes
We are praying for minimal rain and preferably zero rain this afternoon so GOLDREAM gets his preferred conditions for the 3.40 pm Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York. The weather has been unkind to him in the first half of his 2016 campaign but he put in a great performance on quick ground in the King George Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last month finishing third. He looks amazing, he is in fabulous shape we just have to hope that the ground remains good or faster. His usual jockey Martin Harley is in the saddle again for the Morley family and Mr Jeff Sargeant. If the rain does come and the ground eases then this would suit our other two runners, 2 year old PRINCE OF LIR winner of the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot this year and successful french filly IFFRANESIA who would both prefer softer conditions. Tom Marquand rides PRINCE OF LIR for the Cool Silk Partnership and Adam Beschizza rides IFFRANESIA for Mr Cyril Humphris. We would love to win this famous sprint again after success in this three years ago with JWALA. We will all be cheering them on from the office this afternoon.
Other runners today are EJBAAR who is settled and comfy at Sandown Park ahead of the 2.55 pm Handicap Stakes. He ran well over same track and trip back in June. He will be there or thereabouts today. Sylvestre de Sousa gets the leg up in the silks of Mr Malih Al Basti. Final runner of the day is PRINCESS HOLLY who travels to Wolverhampton for the Fillies Handicap Stakes at 7.20 pm this 2 year old filly has so far been a little frustrating, she will be assisted at the stalls by the Witheford team, she usually breaks quick and she just has to keep her head in front today. Graham Gibbons takes the reins for Mr Khalifa Dasmal.
