Derby Day & Chantilly For Us Today . . .
We have six runners out today . . . Four travel to Epsom Downs for the Derby meeting and two race over at Chantilly . . .
We have a three pronged attack lined up for the Investec ‘DASH’ today at 3.45pm . . . DUKE OF FIRNEZE, FREE ZONE and NORMAL EQUILIBRIUM will all line up together for what is certainly the quickest, down hill 5 furlong event of the season!! . . . DUKE OF FIRENZE has won this race in the past, he is very capable on his day, however as things did not go quite right for him last week at York we are hopeful for him that all pans out better today . . . FREE ZONE is another who is more that capable on his day. Having disappointed us all last week at Nottingham, and with no reasons as to why, we fit a Visor on today and have our fingers crossed he can put his best foot forward this weekend . . . NORMAL EQUILIBIRIUM is an ultra consistent perfomer and gives his owners some real fun and good days out. We have jocked up a 7lb claimer today to try to counter balance some weight as he is probably heading towards the top end of his mark. With a bit of luck in running he has every chance today to give us all something to cheer about!! . . .
SECRETINTHEPARK will arrive at Epsom a little later for the 5.50pm, 6 furlong class 2 Handicap . . . On both his starts for us to date he has shown us he is capable of handling a few tough undulations. It will be at the extreme end of that today for him at Epsom, however he is a horse we have plenty of time for and it should be an enjoyable season ahead with him. Having won this race with LUI REI a few season ago, we would love to capture this one again! . . .
SPEED HAWK and IFFRANESIA travelled over to France early hours of Friday morning to settle in for the Listed, Prix Hampton at Chantilly today at 8.35, local time . . . SPEED HAWK ran a super race back in the UK at Haydock Park last week and he is in flying form with himself here at home so we see no reason why not to race again! . . . IFFRANESIA is a lovely filly to have in the yard. She has progressed so far since joining us at the end of 2013. Having now won eight races with us and many more placings . . . She hit top gear this season on her seasonal début, wining at Lingfield Park . . . She is now ready for this step up, it would be wonderful to see her steel some black type for her future as a broodmare – Fingers firmly crossed!! . . .
We were thrilled to see COMEDY NIGHT bounce back in to form, just being pipped to the post at Catterick Bridge yesterday . . . Graham Lee gave him a super ride and this bonny colt railed in the final stages to stick to his task and knuckle down . . . This was his third race, so we will now take a little time to decide which route to go down with him . . .
Lots to follow today and hopeful a few cheers along the way! . . .
