What is to come for 2020…
There is much to look forward to for the 2020 season and lots to strive for – More Winners, More Prize Money, More competing at the top level, A yard Full of horses to train throughout the season! . . .
We retain plenty of our older horses who progressed nicely throughout 2019. We have a good number of three-year-olds and we also have a supergroup of two-year-olds.
Over the past decade, we have gone from strength to strength, which is something we are all extremely proud of, very keen to maintain and even improve on.
Once you have had success at that very highest level, the desire to want to be there each season with the best, at key meetings throughout the season in the UK and around the world is very addictive. To date, we have been lucky enough to have had some wonderfully unforgettable days racing. It is a complete pleasure and thrill to train a horse that can take you to those special racetracks. Unearthing these talents each year is always our goal.
The older horses look an exciting group. Some we retain from previous seasons and lots that are new to us. Let’s see if we can improve them for their connections, just like we have done in the past with the likes of PROHIBIT, GOLDREAM, OUTBACK TRAVELLER, KINGSGATE NATIVE, LUI REI, SPIRIT QUARTZ to mention but a few! . . .
As usual, our three-year-old department is something of an unknown, as they are quite lightly raced to date. As we give these individuals time over the winter to mature, they can start to develop into decent racehorses from their two-year-old days.
We should have somewhere in the region of 20 two-year-olds to train during 2020. We purchased most from the September 2019 Keeneland yearling sale in America, and also from the Tattersalls Newmarket Yearling sales, plus a handful of homebreds. We have broken the majority in ourselves here on the stud. They will spend the first couple of months of the year learning what is expected of them, before starting to up their schedules and prepare them for the racetracks when they are individually ready. They change all the time throughout the year and some will be earlier than others. However, to find a precocious two-year-old is very special and exciting. We will also aim to bring in some Breeze-Up purchases during March and April, which is a route we have had success from over past seasons.
As always there will be lots to follow with us throughout the year . . . Keep a close eye on our Website, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook for all daily news . . .
We are an ‘open house’, with our owners who are welcome to visit their horses at any time that is convenient for them. This also goes to anyone wishing to look at our facilities and meet us with a view to sending a horse into our care. Do get in touch with us at any time. We will give you all the information, options and assistance required . . .
Here’s to a successful 2020!! . . .
